Costa Rica is renowned as a
place of great biodiversity with nearly 50% of its national territory
covered with forests and jungles and 25% is protected land. It is the
country with the highest biodiversity of the planet. This country of
natural wonders debuted at the world's greatest beauty contest back in
1965 and three representatives made the semifinals. This year, Costa
Rica will be represented by
Dayana Aguilera who won the Miss Mundo Costa Rica 2010 title in March.
WorldOfMisses.com proudly presents Miss Mundo Costa Rica 2010 in an exclusive interview for our series
Meet the Misses.
1. Give us an introduction of yourself.Like every person, I have virtues and limitations. I consider myself a
happy, charismatic, sincere and sociable person. I am loyal with the
people around me that I appreciate, value and respect. I like to fight
and defend what I want and when I get it, I feel satisfied and proud
because I accomplished something.
2. Tell us a bit more about your country and hometown.I have the privilege of living in a country of peace. We don’t have a
national army. My country is characterized because its inhabitants are
hospitable and kind. We loved to live as we call it “pura vida”, and
that is doing things calmly. In addition of our good people, we have
numerous natural places that constitute approximately 6% of the world’s
biodiversity, which means that we have many unique animal species. Costa
Rica is an ecological bridge that unites the Americas and serves as a
temporary home for millions of animal species during their migrations.
We are home of multiple rare and fabulous animal species. I can’t forget
the numerous beautiful beaches that our Caribbean and Pacific coasts
have that are visited by thousands of locals and foreigners every single
day.
3. What does it mean to you to represent your country at Miss World?I feel proud that my country is present in this event through myself.
There are not words to describe what I am feeling because of this great
opportunity.
4. What preparations have you done so far for the Miss World final?I’ve
been on a diet, working on the gym, and taking runway and public
speaking classes. I have been studying about the culture and history of
other countries as well.
5. If you have to describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?Fresca, which means fresh. Everything in me is about that, because the
world around me sometimes can get hectic and I try to solve everything
calmly taking one step at a time and always looking the positive and
funny side of things. I try to keep real and avoid exaggerations,
sometimes people see their problems way more complicated than they
really are.
6. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? I see myself as an agronomist with a parcel of land with horses, cattle
and sheep. I also see myself with a family and a pair of twins. I would
love to have twins; I think I have much love to give. I expect to have
my own company and a garden of orchids to sell, I love orchids. I have
many expectations of my live and I have short and long term visions of
it. Everything else that comes in my way is welcome as long they are
good things.
7. Would you prefer being beautiful and rich or poor and smart? I
would have liked the word “health” among these choices because to be
honest, if you are healthy, you can’t ask anything else. I am a
fortunate person and because of this I can’t choose between these
options because none of them are fulfilling to me. The most important
thing is having a good health so I prefer to remain the healthy person
that I am with my virtues and limitations.
8. Which well known person from your country you most admire and why?I admire Franklin Chang because he is a great example of perseverance
and commitment. In addition I have to say my mother even though she is
not famous. Because she taught me to fight for happiness and that women
are strong especially when we defend those that we love.
9. If you had to choose any other country to live in, which one would you choose and why?I think the country that I would like to live in does not exist, because
I would choose one without violence, abuse, hunger, corruption and
classism. That would be the country I would choose, but unfortunately I
don’t think there is one.
10. What do you think is the biggest problem facing the world today and what should be done about it?Violence, it generates hate and anger in people. The best remedy for this is love, with love, violence can’t exist.
11. Do you believe a beauty queen should be politically correct when
answering a controversial subject question or should she express her
personal views on the issue? What everyone thinks including beauty queens is important, else how people will get to know you if you don’t say what you think?
12. What do you most look forward to about the Miss World Festival? Meeting new people and having new experiences. I look forward the most having the opportunity of representing my country.
13. The winner of Miss World will be the 60th Miss World. Which former winner do you most admire and why?Every single one of them because it is a great responsibility carrying
the title. It requires a lot of hard work. Every Miss World winner had
to work hard and because of that I admire all of them.
14. The motto of Miss World is Beauty with a Purpose. What does Beauty with a Purpose mean to you?It means commitment in the social level. A beauty queen besides
representing her country can contribute to society leaving an important
mark that lasts forever.
15. Share a message to your supporters and readers of World of Misses.Fight for your dreams and fulfill your goals even if there are obstacles
along the way. Defend your goals and ideas because at the end of the
way, the feeling of self fulfillment and satisfaction compensates all
sacrifices and difficult moments. There is a motto that says “Study like
if you are going to live forever and live to the fullest like if you
are going to die tomorrow”. I say, fight for your goals like if you are
going to live forever.
